| Thanks Gritsop, but I still need to know whether or not the actual ECU's are the same for cat and non-cat versions (or is the only difference an extra pin connection?)

| Hi ,
L-Jetronic management system came for either cat or no cat versions. The only difference in the wiring is the L sensor connector which has a relative pin in the ECU connector and an extra 7.5 A fuse/relay. As far as A/C is concerned the L-Jetronic wiring/ECU does not feature built in A/C function. For this reason there is a connector just under the ECU (connector built in the ECU loom but electrically separate from the actual ECU wiring) which plugs to an air valve which is activated when A/C is running. The purpose of this valve is to create air bypass from the intake sleeve and direct air to the plenum thus raising the revs. There is a connector just behind the battery featuring a single wire where the A/C harness connects to; when A/C is powered on, then the A/C wiring sends a signal to this single wire connector which in turn triggers the air valve thus rising the idle revs Hope this helps. |

Can anyone confirm whether or not the LE3 Jetronic ECU fitted on non cat versions of 1.7 IE is the same as that fitted to cat versions, please? The wiring schematics for the two versions are virtually identical, with some different designations for similar connectors. The cat version schematic, besides showing the lambda probe, also shows an auxiliary air solenoid valve, used on air conditioned cars to increase engine speed when the compressor clutch is engaged. This is not connected to the ECU, I presume they show it on the diagram because it affects the operation of the fuelling system and all LE3 Jetronic cat cars had aircon. I'm not sure aircon was an option for the UK market, or whether any Jetronic cat versions exist there. My ECU, non cat, is 0 820 000 615. Dick |
