I wouldn't worry too much about it Adam. Are you having any running issues?

The fuel pump relay in mine now is a genuine bosch part 0332 014 112 and I assume it's diode protected from the diagram on the side. It came like that -plastic/ no red stripe in 2012.

The ignition relay (the black one) is a generic ebay part. I couldn't get the original Italian made mustard colour one with the orange base anywhere.

Ah thanks,

That thread with JeremyC is the same car! I bought it from him back in April.

There is no sign of that orange plug. (see top pic) Bit confusing - although it does look the same as john 33's set up.

Does not having this plug mean I should be running 98? or is it just hidden somewhere else?

there is no knock sensor
the highest ignition curve with a cat is set for 95 ron Yellow coloured connector. with nothing connected its 97 ron but this is for no cat.
I wouldn't waste money on 98 ron fuel.

Hi

beware, Bosch relays with a red stripe on the metal housing (like the one on your first picture) are diode-protected and shall be replaced with a similar item

Ok here are mine.

I replaced the fuel and ignition relays a few years ago as they packed up together for some reason- they are just basic relays- don't think they are anything to do with fuel quality- might be wrong. Mine were originally like yours- 1 mustard colour and one red stripe.

I've never touched the other group of relays shown- these are how mine have been since 2001 and probably since the car was made.

Hope that helps!

Hi,

That all looks fine Adam.

My car is a '93 catted 16v too. I'll try and get out to confirm later and take a picture.

From memory the yellow one is the fuel pump relay and the red stripe one is ignition relay.

Cheers,

John

Hello all, and merry christmas.

Trying to get my head round the 16v fuel quality relay. I apologise for my ignorance.

Could someone explain to me what each of the relays in the pictures are - and if it looks correct. Im assuming i have the yellow (95 ron with cat) relay? I have no idea which ones connector s30. It looks like a different setup to every picture i have found!

The car is a 1993 16v with cat.

I use 98 ron, but i'm assuming the 16v doesn't have a knock sensor? so will this make any difference at all?

Thanks - im getting there haha
