|
It Started as a Simple Time Killer
A few months ago, I was stuck waiting at a café while a friend ran late. My phone battery was low, social media felt repetitive, and I didn’t feel like watching videos anymore.
So I opened a sudoku app I had downloaded out of curiosity.
At first, I thought it would just help me pass ten minutes.
Instead, I ended up spending almost my entire afternoon solving puzzles and completely forgetting about the time.
Honestly, I didn’t expect a game built around numbers to feel this satisfying.
My First Few Puzzles Were a Mess
I Thought Random Guessing Would Work
The rules looked incredibly simple:
Fill every row with numbers 1–9
No duplicates allowed
Complete every section correctly
Easy.
At least that’s what I thought.
The moment I reached the middle of my first puzzle, I got completely stuck. I started placing random numbers just to “see what happens,” which turned out to be a terrible strategy.
Within minutes, the entire board stopped making sense.
I had to restart from the beginning, and honestly, it was frustrating.
But strangely enough, I wanted to try again immediately.
The Most Addictive Part of Sudoku
Tiny Clues Slowly Become Big Progress
The thing I love most about Sudoku is the feeling when a difficult puzzle suddenly starts making sense.
At first, everything looks impossible.
Then you solve one small square.
That number helps solve another section.
Then another clue appears.
And suddenly the whole board begins opening up.
That moment feels incredibly rewarding.
It’s not loud excitement like winning in competitive games. It’s quieter than that — more like the satisfaction of finally understanding something difficult.
Why I Keep Playing Every Day
It Helps Me Disconnect From Noise
Most apps today constantly demand attention. Notifications, messages, videos, advertisements — everything moves so fast.
Sudoku feels different.
When I’m solving a puzzle, my brain focuses on one thing only. No distractions. No pressure. Just logic and patience.
That’s probably why it became part of my daily routine so naturally.
Sometimes I play in the morning while drinking coffee.
Other times I solve a puzzle before bed to relax a little.
Either way, it always helps me slow down mentally.
The Frustrating Side of Sudoku
One Wrong Move Can Destroy Everything
This game taught me very quickly that confidence can be dangerous.
Sometimes I place a number too quickly because I feel “certain” it belongs there. Then twenty minutes later, nothing works anymore.
Rows stop making sense.
Columns become impossible.
And eventually I realize one small mistake ruined the entire puzzle.
It’s painful every time.
But honestly, that challenge is also what makes solving difficult boards feel so satisfying.
You really earn that final solution.
Small Tips That Helped Me Improve
Stop Rushing
The faster I try to solve puzzles, the more mistakes I make.
Use Pencil Marks
Writing down possibilities helps organize everything much better.
Take Breaks
Sometimes the answer becomes obvious after stepping away for a few minutes.
Final Thoughts
I never expected Sudoku to become one of my favorite ways to relax, but now I play almost every day.
Some puzzles make me feel brilliant.
Others completely destroy my confidence.
But every completed board gives me that same satisfying feeling that keeps me coming back for more. |
