What are the differences?
I had a plastic screw off top with no sensors in it and have replaced it with a metal twist off type.
Is the release pressure different?
Any comparable advantages / dis-advantages?
Should I get another screw off type for my 16v?

My 16V has the metal twist off type, no problems.

I bought the car when it had done 33,000kms with that style of tank. I am of the opinion that it was like that from new.

Hi,

Twist cap tanks were fitted to our 33s until 1991 continuing the series 2 tanks which were in stock.

Then the setup was changed to screw type until the end of production.

The funny (and frustrating thing) is that in case you need to replace the twist cap it costs 20 € being at the same time the price for a new screw type tank including cap Confused

I had this happen to me some days ago when my twist type cap failed and I had to replace it; the dealer told me that it is better to change the tank since it includes the screw in cap all @ 20€. However my twist cap type tank is almost new, so I paid for the 20€ twist cap Rolling Eyes

Regards,

Thanks for your replies, the temp now sits just below the line between the 80 - 120 mark, before it used to sit on 80. I have just put everything back to standard, ecu chip, airflow mod, 2 new HT leads, even before that im sure it was at 80.

Well I just put everything back to how it was before, as in 5 min air meter mod, and chip. Still sits between 80 - 120, so it must be the tank??? Or the pressure release cap???

Tank and/or cap won't make any difference to engine temperature.

A higher pressure cap justs allows water temperature to rise more before it boils - the higher the pressure the higher the boiling point temeperature.

Did you get air trapped in water system when you refilled it?

Have you changed the temp sensor or altered the wiring to it?
