Not sure if this is the right forum for this question..
Does anyone know, are LHD and RHD racks the same? Can you flip the unit over and use it the other hand drive?
Reason for asking is I have a RHD power setup (good condition, less than 60K miles) and wondered if I can use it on a LHD car?
any thoughts....?
(and yes, if it doesnt fit it will be for sale!!!) _________________ 1977 Alfasud 16v

Hi,
At first i thought no chance, then i thought well perhaps.
Looked on parts CDR, there are different racks for RHD and LHD as expected. The fixed metal pipes run along the top and the column join shaft points up so guessing there can be no flipping.

even if it will phisically fit, which I doubt cause the pinion won't line up with the hole in the bulkhead, it would need a lot of concentration to drive! if you turn the wheel left the car will turn right and vice versa. Would be interesting to see. |
