Hi,

I don't really keep an eye on used car prices especially non-alfas, but I couldn't believe the low price of what I saw sale at the side of the road today.

An R (1997-Cool plate Saab convertible in black. I was in crawling traffic and had a reasonable look at the side and it looked to be in perfect cosmetic order at least. Maybe it had done a zillion miles or something, but the price ???? -£1600ono Shocked

Hi

2nd hand cars are worth peanuts. Suspect partly because so few people these days are prepared to do any work themselves and even a minor fix at a garage can be more than the car is worth (so the cars are worth less, so thrown away with even more life left in them, vicious circle).

All the best

Keith

Never! Certainly not for a saab, I was just suprised at how cheap a once quite prestige motor had become.

Only a GT v6 could possibly tempt me and they aint gonna be £1600ono for a while Laughing

The rear of some Saabs and the rear of a 33 series III are VERY similar,... I'll find out which ones.

There's SAABs and there's SAABs.

My old proper square bumper pre GM 'classic' 900 was a brilliant car. Anything made in the last 20 years is basically a pimped Cavalier / Vectra / Signum and, well a Vauxhall basically.

Independent again though so hopefully we'll get back to cars as quirky and well engineered as Alfas.

My old-man used to have a 900... went on forever with no faults and boy was it quirky! The windscreen was really bowed and it looked like being in a goldfish bowl! Laughing

I've often thought that too- the saab 9000 i think. The 33 is also a bit too similar looking to the Volvo 340 Embarassed Confused

And of course the 9000 shared it's basic structure with the 164.
