Can someone enlighten me as to point of these?
I have seen a few cars recently with really wide wheels and tyres that are not as wide but are stretched out to the rim.

Its a german/tuning thing, your most likley to see it on a VW branded car, its apparently dangerous to do and it ruins the tyre wall bead, if you look it up on you tube there are some near misses when the tyre gives out.

Your right though, other than looks there is no ponit to it.

Come to think of it the ones I have seen were polos I think.
One of them had taken it to extreme by having wheels that had to be 8" wide and were no more than 10" to 12" in diameter.
Have to say it just looked stupid.

I can't remember who it was... someone at spa showed me some and told me they were illegal in the uk... JohnBoy???

Anyway... I don't understand the point of them either! Laughing
