Some idiot copper is considering electronic tagging of all vehicles in the UK, with the support of some politicians.

All the best

Ha ha, and I thought that the prosecution of the motorists is worst here, in Holland...

OK, here a few tips

1) Buy shares in bicycle manufacturer, you are about to make a killing when everyone loses their licence and has to buy a bike to get around.

2) Set up a political party that wants to abolish these dastardly devices, you will be in government next time an election is held. What the politicians have forgotten is that the motorist is also the voter, unless you lived in somewhere like Iraq up until a few months ago.

Hi

Trouble is the politicians really don't give a damn, and all the parties are the same plus have enough unthinking support (who would vote for them whatever their policies, just because their parents voted for them) that no independent party has a hope in hell.

More realistically this is likely to be a really hideous idea and they will "compromise" with something slightly less nasty.

They are already talking about banning cars without catalytic converters from cities.

All the best

Keith

Just some idiot copper's wet dream.

Would be better off changing British roads over to lhd; was nearly run off the road today when some English* berk in a Ford Explorer decided to jerk violently towards my 156 Sportwagon on the Maastricht ring. He couldn't see where he was going. This was obviously made worse when I left him in a cloud of diesel soot! Twisted Evil

* I'm of the same origin, so no offence Wink

They should just increase the penalty for speeding and other road abuse. In Belgium you get jailed, car impounded and fined thousands if you get caught going over 150 kph. Sh*t knows what would have happened if they caught me doing 200 Twisted Evil .

Um, also...aren't catalytic converters more poluting during short distances, ie. inner city use? Need to warm up about 20 min before they become of any benefit.

Keith is right they always (politicians) put the worst case scenario forward then water it down and pass that as law. When in the first place the watered down version was what they really wanted to do. So it appears that they have listened to the objections of people and are really a caring sharing lovely fluffy government that you could take home to meet your mum. Ham Shankers!!

Tracking the car would only be part of the whole story.

If you havent heard of RFID chips, you MUST read this article - it is by The Register which is a respected serious IT Magazine for the IT Trade

"RFID CHIPS ARE HERE"
