May well be Ian Oglethorpe who has got about 197bhp out of his 1.8.

Holy moly, nipped out again this afternoon, and the same 33 overtook me!!

Followed it down Rickmansworth Rd- looked good, sounded good, not a whiff of smoke.

Looked standard except for an alfa romeo chrome script badge on the lh side of the boot lid.

Both times i was out in the Clio Embarassed , but if i see him when i'm in the 33 he'll get the alfa 'look' Wink

quite alot, the engine has been built to Adie Hawkins 8v track specs , lary kent cams (adies own profile), 2 twin 45 webbers, omex coil pack and ecu (currently revs to 8500rpm but 9500possible), facet race fuel pump, JE pistons and conrods, 16v block bored out to 1.8 ,gas flowed and ported heads, race spring and valve sets,16v big end lighted and balanced using cosworth shells, 16v fly wheel lightened and balanced ,one off hand made manifold and exhaust , pipercross filters with carbon fibre trumpets I think I remember most of it. Twisted Evil

Thanks Oggie, that is a mad spec and it would be great to see the pics. Must be one of (the?) quickest road going 33s in the country.

Do you mind me asking did Adie do the work for you or just provide some of the parts, and also how much does an engine like that cost?

I spoke to Adie a few months ago about modding my 16v engine to get it up to about 180-190bhp (I'm fed up with the Misses blowing me away in her Clio Cup Laughing ). He was very honest and said that that sort of power would cost over £6k from him, and his approach of replacing and uprating everything was probably overkill for a road car. He recommended Brunswick Motorsport and I spoke to them recently about making some mods to get me to about 170-180bhp (rebore to 1.8, forged pistons, balanced crank/clutch/flywheel, port/polish/gas flowing, cams, omex ecu). Any thoughts/advice you can give me would be appreciated.

Cheers

the only advice is to have a very understanding wife/girlfriend and a deeeeep pocket, exhaust and filter are o.k. but as every boy racer forgets that without a proper tune up after fitting any engine mods the power will drop or not improve.

Cheers Iain. The wife has been pretty good about me throwing a fair bit of money at the Alfa so I think a trip to Brunswick fairly shortly will be in order! Wink
