Did the pump today, and dropped the tank- YET AGAIN to sort the restricted flow after having to fit a sender a few weeks ago that had it's outlet back to front for my tank- seems some 16v/ IEs sender outlets face forwards, and some back
Heath Robinson would be proud But with the new pump, the car is running superbly, pulling like a 33 should.

I think what Al means is some lesser 'jubilee' clips are not smooth on the inside when tightened up pinching the pipes.......should be ok with proper jubilee clips |

Ah, that's ok then- phew.
I always try and use real jubilees as I've found cheap n nasty ones like 'norma' and 'terry' tend to disintegrate. _________________ If it aint broke, fiddle with it until it is!

Hi, the fuel line diameter seems a bit small and the bends won't help fuel flow. Such restrictions on the inlet side will overload the pump.
Besides, the blue silicon gasket from loctite is not fuel-resistant and will dissolve over time. Use a sealant designed for 2-stroke engines.
Regards,

Hi, The new hoses used throughout were the same ID and OD as the original ones.
The elbows can't help flow, but it seemed better than the risk of a kinked hose. I can physically blow breath from the pump inlet end of the hose into the tank quite easily, and likewise from the pump outlet side blew down the line quite easily with the line disconnected from the filter.
The old filter wasn't choked, but i've put on a new one.
The car starts, idles and runs better than i can remember, but this pump is stil quite noisy- could it be duff?
The new sender came with it's new rubber gasket and i know i went a bit mad with the blue hylomar on the top of the tank - the packet says fuel resistant
Cheers,

how long have you run the car for John?, and I may have miss read this thread but have you filled up the tank to the brim?, could it be trapped air in the pump causing the noise/vibration?. _________________ PHAT 33 |

Tank was filled about 1/2 full, car has been driven about 20 miles with the new pump. The hoses have been on and off the pump a few times, to sort the bracket and blow down the lines checking for blockages etc etc.

Well it's definitely down to the inlet side hose run- Zp is correct.
I figured if i could blow down the hose into the tank it should be ok.
The hose i used from the tank to a join near the pump was 10mm ID, as was previously fitted- it was extremely tight on the sender nozzle though.
To test the pump i ran a bit of garden hose off the pump into a can of petrol and started the car- guess what- silent pump!
So now i'm gonna get some 13mm ID fuel hose and run that from the tank with a smooth curve and no joins if I have time before SAD- grrr _________________ If it aint broke, fiddle with it until it is!

Sorted
Tank out again yesterday - New length of 13mm ID hose from the sender right up to the pump, removing the original step joint and small diameter plastic pipe on the chassis in the process.
All quiet now- SAD here we come - hopefully... _________________ If it aint broke, fiddle with it until it is!
