Leads are all secure and I can't see any coolant leaking from header tank onto coil. No problem turning hard right. What is going on?
Any ideas?

How would that effect only turning one way?
Did you have this problem with the car before Ian or is it something that I might have done?

Must be electrical? What about jacking up and putting on full lock. Any earths or leads being touched or shorted.

Floats would only be if hard corner so that one side suffers too much or little fuel.

Perhaps a worn out fuel pump diaphragm?.

Not something simple like fuel starvation from the tank with a dodgy pickup?

Hi,

Check carb floats first and fuel circuit.
Other than this, i experienced a similar problem long time ago. Turned out to be a dead battery, plates inside would move a little bit under centrifugal force and short the battery. Found this while driving the car with a voltmeter hooked between coil + terminal and chassis ground.

regards,
zp

Interesting one zp. I just bought the battery new so should be ok??
Pretty sure it's lateral G rather than steering lock.
Surely if it were floats or weak pump it would misfire turning either direction.
Not really sure how to work out what is going on let alone rectify it.
Will have a look at the carbs and check everything.

Plan routes with right hand turns- simples.

Seriously though in addition to what others have said how about water (puddle water or coolant) getting into or sitting in the left hand side plug holes?
