I've seen the Redline oil mentioned on the forum before for use in the gearbox. This oil has just become available in NZ and I wondered if anybody had firsthand experience of it in their gearbox. Does it improve the change, synchros etc. The light oil is listed as being 75W140 and I was worried that the heavier end of the rating might make the change very stiff. Any feedback would be most appreciated.
Regards Eddie

Eddie,

I don't have first hand experience, but a few I know have used redline gearbox oils with good results - from a Triumph network I use. It seems popular with racers too.

Here are some web sites you could look at for technical information:

www.redlineoil.com/products_gearlubricants.asp
www.redlineoil.co.uk/first.htm
www.cobraclub.com/html/tech_tips.shtml

The second link has simple guidance on selection of which Redline product to go for.

I have a dodgy 2nd synchro in my 88 33 and was tempted to use Redline to improve, but it is quite expensive here in UK - let us know the result. Good luck.

Munro.

Hi Munro, thanks for that. Most informative. I will now assimilate the info and make a choice. It would appear that the 75W90NS is the ideal as it is designed to handle steel synchros as well as bronze. Will report.
Regards Eddie
