We're leaving this afternoon - 17h GMT +1. Will drive to Paris where we'll stay the night. Starting engine again tomorrow morning and hope to arrive in Madrid thursday-evening!

Hope to have a lot of fun down there in the sun for a long weekend and will pack our bags up again sunday-evening and go back home again - due to arrive monday-evening.

Anyone ever done something like this in a 13-year-old series II QV? It will be about 1800 km's for a single trip. The lady has had a lot of maintenance during the past year and I feel like she should be in a good condition to make this trip. Still, she manages to surprise me everytime again...

I'm going to pack some tools and spare parts today Smile) and some spare coolant and engine-oil and, and, and... Wink

Pictures will be put on http://stof.phrea.com when we get back here next week.

If anyone in the Netherlands, Belgium, France or Spain spots a champagne series II QV, please wave and honk!

Good luck, enjoy your trip.

If the car seems reliable then there should not be a problem, saying that you never know. Wink

Hi, I am spanish and living in Belgium. Every year I drive my 92 1.5 IE 33 to my home village. The trip is a little bit shorter, +/- 1570 Km. Normally on the way down I do it on 2 days and on the way up in one day.
Last time I did it my car was around 195 000 Km and had absolutely no problem. However I do as you suggest : take some tools, a flash light, some oil and some spares like alternator belt.
2 years ago I got my water pump leaking in spain, bought there a replacement but did all the trip back, in 1 day, with the leaking one after having removed the water expansion tank cap.
So as you can see, 33 are quite resistent !.
Have a nice trip
Carlos
