Hi guys, I am on the scrounge/search... I recently bought my first Italian car (ok, second if you include 3 months with a crummy Punto) and it needs help. Like me. I'm on the lookout for:
both wing mirrors (manual),
good engine mounts,
front shocks,
headlight squirters,
fog light lenses,
decent workshop manual,
maybe a towbar (I know, I know, but it saves putting rubbish into what is quite a respectable car - it can go in the trailer. along with the kids)
And if anyone knows why the "alfa control" system would be trying to tell me that a sidelight is out... when it isn't!... FOR GOD'S SAKE TELL ME!! IT'S DRIVING ME NUTS!!
Many thanks. If anyone is in the Croydon or Purley areas, and would like to meet up for a drink, let me know.
Regards, Alex. 07714 335219. |

Thanks Steve! Yes it is a 33 - a 1.7ie 8V. K-reg (1992-ish) - I presume that's mk3? - in red. Not in bad nick, but needs some bits and some care. I could do with the manual mirrors (o/s glass is broken, and I can't see if it comes out of the casing, and the n/s control wires seem to have gone), in red if possible! The fogs both work, it's just the lenses really. N/S is ok, but o/s has been replaced with a small piece of clear glass. Even I wouldn't do that! Shocks - o/s seems to be dead as a dodo, so obviously pair needed. Don't have to be an upgrade. Any bits that are available for a reasonable price would be considered... and probably needed at some point soon. Are there any bits you're after? A friendly dealer has said that he has a lot of old 33 bits he will let go for a very small sum, so if you want me to look out for anything.... _________________ K737 MMM... my slightly dog-eared but willing 33 1.7ie 8V. Hi there and welcome to the relative joys of italian ownership (yes-more stress, but so so much more class than a ford...)
depending on what steve sorts you out with, i also have, from a broken red saloon, manual mirrors, both fogs, mountings, no towbar or light washers, prob most bits that you may need in terms of trim....
Oh and get some spray grease on the door latches, the first 33 i went to look at was rejected on the grounds that 3 of the 4 doors didnt open....
the sidelight issue may be a poor earth, not sure how the car tells that a bulb has gone but guerssing it senses current drain? so a bulb may work but have higher resistance. otherwise fit a blanking plate in the hole (have one of them too!!)
Good luck!!

on the subject of the alfa control display, they are wonderfully tempremental and there may be no reason why it tells you things! but I would have a look at the wattage of the tail lamp bulbs as incorrect ones can cause the display to show a fault even when all the lights are working.
I have headlamp skooshers, very good(nearly new in fact) engine mounts (both main engine mounts and stabiliser bar) good fog lights and possibly mirrors (I'll need to look at them in the daylight). the only thing I don't have available are the shockers as the car still has to remain pushable at the moment.
pm me if you're interested in any of it. |
