Does the car exhibit any problems, jerkiness, etc Question

I'm trying to work out why you want to check the coil, then again if you suspect it to be a problem, replace it. Also consider plugs, leads, distributor rotor arm and cap.

Signs of an ignition coil dying are if the car misfires at high revs, under load or basically exhibits signs of crap spark! In my opinion they arent blamed nearly often enough for things going wrong.

ChrisC,

Last time I replaced a coil was in 1987, when it started leaking. It worked fine apart from that. Maybe I have just been lucky.

I may be biased as there is one person on this forum who is in serious denial about their ignition coil being in its dying throes *cough*daveuk*cough*
