hi matt
I have a 16v center section, that is practically brand new, if you would like to swap, if thats what you are after.
Does anyone know if the same cat is used for 16v and 8v, not worried about the pipe diameter as i want to cut out cat part and have fitted to stainless steel system. _________________ x2 33 16v

matt33, thanks and have a good holiday
John, are you saying that the actual catalytic converters are different? As i know that there is a difference in pipe size and connection type, this doesnt matter as i will be cutting out the cat to fit onto a Stainless Steel system. Please clarify. I appologise if im repeating myself but im only looking to cut out the actual converter.
Thanks in advance _________________ x2 33 16v

Big Al,
I'm not completely certain on this, but i think the 8v cat is slimmer than the 16v, which looks smoother and more bulbous than the 8v one from memory, maybe Matt can send u a piccy.

Hi matt, I am very interested.
I will be straight up and honest here, as i would hate to mislead you and for you to be dissapointed. Hope im not talking my way out of a swap here, but im an honest guy.
There are 2 types of manifold on the 16v, one for a cat, which is the crossover type and as you know ends with a 2 bolt flange connection. The other type is for no cat, a 4 into 2 into 1 straight pipe design ending with a sleeve connection. I have the latter type (mid section with no cat) with a slide on connection and that will not fit on a cat manifold. I am assuming that your car is supposed to have a cat, as you said that your manifold ends with 2 bolt flange type, as you cant fit the 3 bolt flange type 8v cat. Are you sure this is what you want? I have taken pics if you need to have a look.
Heres a pic of a sports cat for a 16v

Hi Al,
I have taken some pics, and there is a difference,i need a centre section which ends in the 2 bolt flange connection, the one ive got spare ends in 3,,you are more than welcome to have it still if you only need the cat,and it looks like i will have to fork up the money and buy a new centre section.
But....how an earth do you post images on here?...if you can give me your email address i can post them to you,no probs.
that pic of your sports cat is bang on what i need though,,where you get that from?,
Cheers Al and sorry for any confusion
Thanks Matt. |

Thanks mat, I will pm you my email address. Your probably off on yr hols already.
To upload pictures you first need to upload them to a web site that hosts pictures, like photo bucket, then copy the link that the site provides and paste it in your post should look something like "" Try using the preview before posting.
That sports cat was from www.cats4less.com but you can buy a normal one for £146 all in.
If you do a search for my other posts, I listed a few sites that do after market cats for our beloved 33's. cats4less came up the cheapest. You will need to source a fitting kit though, as cats4less don’t do them.
I await your posting of pics or email as to whether I take you up on your offer.
