Any one interested?
I will be getting these made out of vinyl type material, NOT PAPER! Either a sticky back or non sticky back, at a cost of around £33 P&P a set.
Lots of options available, I will do a test first to see what they’re like, as I want mine to have the markings/numbers cut out so the original florescent paint shows through. Mine will also be on a silver coloured vinyl, you can have any colour you like, inc numbers and either choose sticky back ect ect.
Description as follows, ill post a pic when I get my first 1 done

Speed dial
Numbers in black except 100 and 160 mph, which are red
Numbers go up in 20 mph increments from 20 - 160 mph
Underneath the trip counter is "Alfa Romeo" in red italic
Above miles odometer is "mp/h" in black normal type font

Rpm dial
Numbers in black except orange from 70 - 7.5 and then red up to 90
From top middle down is

X100 "in black normal font"
Coure Sportivo "in red italic"
At the bottom is a colour Alfa Romeo badge

Fuel gauge
0 is in red

Temp gauge
120 is in red

ok. slight problem for me, I have the very latest dials (Jeager consol), see below

The dials I'm getting made are like the old style (Borletti consol), see below

See the different size and style around the odometer and trip, I prefer the later sytle.
I have sent a pic of my dials to the people doing them. What style do you guys have? What do you prefer?

Hi,

My car seems to have what you call the latest speedo face and the older rev counter face. Car is 1993, and just looked in the 93 brochure i have, which shows that same combo.

Not seen one with a green rev band band before.
Has your older speedo face had the kmph numbers painted over, or is it the photo????

If the gauges work, that'll ding dang do for me Very Happy

On your

John

yup they were badly painted over, they were second hand ones from paul, supposed to be donor parts, but mine are totally different. I noticed that combo in another post where someone linked to a french site on how to permanently wire in the gearbox sender.
At least 1 person is interested Laughing

the rev counter with the green bit on it is from older cars - I've seen them on series 1s and also series 2s I think, but I don't think they were fitted to s3s.

Aren't coloured dials a bit Max Power Al?

Hi

There are people who do custom ones. For example (mainly aimed at bikes):-

All the best

I think I have a Frankenstein build dash, what with different dials, a cover that doesn’t fit properly and is from the other type which has had the tabs removed to fit. I don’t know who did this, but it displeases me.
I went to a local graphics place to get my dials done and are 1/2 the price compared to redial, I hope mine will be ok Rolling Eyes Thanks for the link.

Due to poor illumination on our dials, replacing the dials with a light colour should help, possibly white or silver along with led bulbs. Now I was toying with the idea of multi coloured led bulbs that change by themselves, that’s a bit Max power

EDIT!!
Cant do on silver, something to do with the ink ect ect, so white dials Laughing

hey John, I should be taking delivery of your style of dials today, I can fit them onto the (Borletti consol) and take some pics but I cant show you how it will look illuminated as the bulbs from my (Jeager consol) dont fit, there to big. I have to get my dials scanned and imported to vector graphics using coreldraw, to keep the costs down. Ahh wot the heck, I'll fit them in my dials so I can take mine out to get scanned.

hey john and anyone else interested I got 2 set of dials the other day and I have fitted them in the Borletti console and then modified them to fit in my Jaeger console. I have not stuck them in place, I have cut them out and placed them in.
Here are some pics.

Borletti console

Jaeger console

As you can see the Jaeger console's dials come completely out and as the plastic housing for the dials is clear I will need to stick the white dials onto some opaque backing before fitting to avoid hotspots and be removable.
The differences are; the holes for the screws are further apart, the hole for the miles is wider, the hole for the trip has no dividing bars and the reset trip hole is lower down. I have not taken a pic as it looks bad as I haven’t stuck it down as I need some opaque backing.

Hi Al,

White dials look ok, but i'm one of those fuddy duddies that prefer the standard ones. I believe young people call it 'keeping it real' .

Did you get the exhaust done? Any joy with MOT?

John

Did you find the chrome rings Al? I saw some sets on ebay back along for about £20. They were from Germany so a look on German ebay may be worth a look.
