Sad time for Spa Italia 2010 - couldn't make it.

Anyway... hoping we could have a bumper turnout for 2011. Very Happy

I'm getting people interested now so there are no excuses about not being able to afford it or get the time of work or whatever! Laughing

I *dedicate* myself to getting my P4 there again for 2011... interested parties to reply. We may do some different stuff this year, any ideas, let me know.

Bob

I am tempted, but before we go any further here...how much beer will one have to consume???
Plus of course more mundane questions like what happens at Spa Italia?

Hi Ian, to add some sanity to the topic, you go to the beautiful Spa circuit in a convoy of 33s, look at other Italian cars, look at cars going through Eau Rouge, go for a walk across the circuit to look at cars going round the track from different impressive vantage points, go round the circuit in your own car and in the evenings drink as much or as little beer as you like and play Xtrem Boules or Xtrem deckchair or suchlike.

Ian M... I'm going to have a serious moment and write pretty much what happens in SpaItalia.

1. On the Friday, we all get a ferry to Dunkirk from Dover. Every time I've been, we usually meet up somewhere the night before and drive down to the dock together in a convoy.

2. Once on French soil, we make up our convoy (albeit a few people get lost!) and make our way into Belgium. Then arrive at our villa (which we all rent together) on the Friday evening.

3. Friday night we often have a BBQ and some beers and have a laugh and a chat.

4. Saturday morning... go to the Spa-Francorchamps circuit. Watch the cars go around the circuit, have a funny Belgian hot-dog and browse the market stalls at the track. Pick JohnBoy off the floor after he's drooled his entire bodily fluids over some Lambo or whatever. Options here are to park inside the track enclosure, actually drive around the circuit for an hour (Grande Parade) or race full on for an hour (The Scuderia - or the SCUD MISSILE as I call it). A helmet isn't needed for the Grande Parade, but it is for the Scud. Even the Grande Parade gets very fast and it's almost like a race... many comments have been made about it "not being allowed in the UK". There are other options, like drive a Ferrari around the track and go for a driving treasure hunt around the Ardennes countryside... but as yet we haven't done any of these.

5. Saturday evening, go back to the villa... beer, food and much good times. Maybe nip out to a bar somewhere for food and/or beer or whatever.

6. Sunday... repeat 4 and 5.

7. Monday and onwards are pretty much open to sightseeing or beer seeing or whatever takes ya... we're a pretty easy going bunch.

8. And so on... Normally some people return to the UK on Tuesday, some on Wednesday. The villa is available until Friday should anyone want to stay until then.

All-in-all, it's a pretty open and laid back affair. What has really made these visits in the past are the good cheer, easy going, common goals and just generally a bunch of nice people.

If there's anything I've missed out... let me know. Nothing about me breaking down in a Belgian motorway tunnel though, I've only just recovered from that! Laughing

Chilli Muchangos? It's a made up word!

Me and Andy (one of the blokes who comes along) had a chilli growing competition and we were going to test them out to see who's were hottest. I never made it last year, so the competition didn't go ahead.

All that happened was they had a "cracking" pot of chilli sauce instead! Laughing

You heard about the pot of chilli sauce then Bob!

That's what happens when some 'idiot' tries to chuck it on a concrete BBQ! Laughing

Did Andy pass on the hoses mate?

Thanks dude. I really worked hard to find that place and the feedback from you guys has been good. Unfortunately I didn't get to go there... but it's full on for next year. Going shopping later to get some parts I need, then hopefully off to the MOT station later this week Very Happy

Thanks for the very thorough description Bob.
Neednt of gone into such great detail tho as the words beer and barbeque and funny belgian hotdog sold it to me straight away.
So if you guys are happy to have a new boy (old geezer) along Id like to register my interest in joining the party next year.
Driving around Spa will be another item crossed off my to do list.

Hey Ian... that's great news. We had an old person called Paul come along one time and he liked it - we're used to towing round the oldies! Laughing

You can help me to teach these lot how to talk "proper".

Firstly... are you drunk? Just look at that grammar!

Secondly... you're not seriously telling me the sauce was called "Diablo" are you?
