Overall weight 1177 kg
Front axle 718kg
Rear axle 495kg
That doesn’t make any sense as that = 1213kg, I thought the ser 3 is 1000kg, I did have a spare cat and rear box in the car but....

Isn't that the braking force front brake force 718 and 495 rear. Not weight of the car........................oh hang on have you still not removed the stereo ice stuff yet?. Wink

Weighing the front and rear axles will never equal the total weight of the car because when dropping the back wheels for instance, onto the scales you are still going
to get some weight from the front end of the car coming into play, and vice versa.
What you are weighing is the amount of weight each axle is actually bearing.

I think Laughing

The scales are on the flat bed ramp, as you drive onto it.

Dont worry about it Al, trust me your car doesnt weigh 1213 kilos.
Isnt a series 3 something like 1090 kilos?
So with fuel and fluids plus a boot full of metal 1177kg doesnt sound that far off to me.

Serious post without any micky taking Laughing

Didnt quite finish today, saturday, try getting on the scales then Smile
Did have a full tank but not that much weight from the spare exhaust stuff.

Forgot the bolts for the ser 2 rack, luckily they had some bolts but they dont have a shoulder for strength on them, i will pick some up tomorrow.
Managed to fit without lowering the engine or removing a strut, just need to centralise the rack, do the tracking and try to get the steering wheel so the lock comes on when straight, this will be done on saturday.

Passed MOT after swapping steering rack.
What are people’s opinions on the difference between ser 2 and ser 3 racks, the mechanic pointed out that the ser3 mounting points are far beefier, made of metal and very small bushes. The ser 2 rack has 2 large rubber bushes round the mounts and thinks that the ser 2 rack will be sloppier.

You obviously dont know how to set them up cos it failed Laughing

By the way did I mention that mine passed 1st time??

Sorry Ian, I missed that post, My car is stripped so the rear sits too high, something I didn't think of because it was supposed to have all been done and replaced by now, I will have to re-set it when the interior is back in.

Still have this lot to do...
fit adjustable steering arms on non PS rack,
fit the race springs,
get filters and mounting plates made to fit on the TB's,
spec an oil cooler and fit it,
get the clonking adjustable panhard rod sorted,
re-install all the interior,
re-wire and re-fit the ICE to be made easily removable for track days,
get light bucket seats
Fit the 1.3 sud gearbox.
and possibly a roll cage.
Might be finished mid next year, just in time for Alfa day.. Smile

Wow, what a difference no sound deadening, all the rear interior out and a non PS rack makes.
The car reacts to all the bumps in the road, turns in quicker and reacts quicker.
It’s like driving a different car, the non PS rack is still a little hard to turn when stationary but when cornering it does not try to snatch out of your hand and I can hold the wheel with 1 hand, not possible before. There is no sloppiness, going to take me a while to get used to Smile
I am temped to not put it all back in, it’s so much fun.

you need something in your ears to drown out the road noise, I will put the carpet back in. I am not doing without a sub, that will go back in and come out for track days ect ect.

Hi, I vote for saving your ears by keeping the carpet
and instead sacryfing a bit the motor flywell Shocked

2 kg less on the more external part of the flywell
should be safe and equivalent in acceleration
less or more at:

- 10 kg less in the car in 5st gear
- 40 kg less in the car in 1st gear

(and it should give also more rapid gear shift,
as syncros have to manage less revolving mass)

Arrrgg!! you devil, are programming to give to that 33 all benefits Very Happy
Thanks for the photos, I enjoyed them!

Ps.: I think i said an error talking about
mechanical explanation as a big expert Rolling Eyes,
syncros dont manage flywell during shifting,
but the bonus in shifting should be there, cause
motor can change velocity faster during shift change..
(I hope this time explanation is correct Mr. Green )

Time and money, might be finished Jun 2012 ish, what photos?
I think you are saying that the lighter flywheel is easier on the gearbox.

Hi, I mean I'd liked the photos you and the others
published in the forum about your car projects,
because I don't have a good space where to work Rolling Eyes
so I can do only small works on the car,
but at least I can see some projects on the forum Wink

The factory car I believe came only with heaters. 970kg is without air-con and fuel.
