Cheers Pat
Nnamdi, I picked up a race engine today, 160 - 170 bhp, its the engine that was in pats car, I can't believe you still haven't called me lol

The engine should be fitted Wednesday, insurance know all about it and are ok with it.
I am also fitting a 1.3 sud gearbox, it may need the speedo sender modified, if I cant get the parts then the engine install will have to wait.

Nice little upgrade Al, was good to see you & Iain on Saturday, i'm sure you will be really happy with the engine, i've known Richard for a while & he has been very happy with it. Good to see it get passed to someone else worthy, well done. Speak soon.

Big thanks to Mark @ WSAR "West Sussex Alfa Romeo" the engine is now in and up and running. If it were me fitting it, I would still be there trying to sort out the wiring for the ECU, well done Mark Smile!!
Couldn't fit the sud box, as the box didn't come with the tail end and the 33 gear selector doesn't fit.
The PS pump was removed and the rack emptied of fluid.
The clutch is so light, my bearing was gringing into the clutch, making it heavy.
Had to use the standard FPR and damper, need a oil breather filter and to connect the lambda sensor.

Steering needs both hands on the wheel and is quite heavy, the induction noise is awesome, the acceleration is great, it keeps pulling, can't wait to try the 1.5 or 1.3 box.

Its like driving a totally different car, I need to get used to it Smile

Are the 1.5 and 1.3 boxes lower geared?

I fancy one of those diesel / sportwagon gearboxes with the high 0.787 fifth, some nice cruising econonmy to be had there.

I always thought that 5th gear could have been a bit longer for less revs at higher speed.

The engine still makes me smile, on my way to work doing 60mph and overtaking a middle lane driver, a ford driver came right up my rear. I dropped it into 3rd, floored it and just sat there spinning, I had to feather the throttle to get traction.
It was wet but I have never experienced that before Smile

Sounds like you need new front tyres Laughing

Only joking.

How's the car coming along?

Might be because its cold and having summer tyres, or the huge amounts of extra power Smile
Not done anything since fitting the engine, lack of funds, still overdrawn from the restoration work. Should be back in the black next month, then it's crack on with my list Smile
