Morning guys,

I compete in a sport called autograss dirt oval non contact

Just brought a rover 100 with a 1351 alfa33 engine mounted in the rear

Its rwd

My class is restricted to 1420cc 8v and normally aspirated

Its currently running twin dellortos

Any advice on modifications

Generally racing against nova sri engines and ax gt engines

Wow. I'll like to see that... Shocked

Do you know what 33(or maybe sud/sprint) the engine came from?

Engine number is on top of cast iron near to oil filter/oil pressure sensor.

Eagle can tell it's mechanical tappets from the cam covers.

So now have the car and looks great

Unfortunaky smokes a lot when revved

Been sat for 12 months nd had one race this year so I'm assuming if it has them that the rubber stem seals are knackered

The smoke doesn't appear to go when warm either it did have too much oil in but have emptied some out, what oil do you use it has 10w 40 part synthetic in it. At moment

Any clues
Please help

I've heard of some people neglecting to fit the valve stem seals on the exhaust valves on boxer heads - not sure why, or if there is anything to be gaing by doing so.

Pretty sure RS Fruitbat has a 1600 engine without the valve seals, might be worth asking him what the advantage is?
