I also notice that whatever G99a is, connector 4 on it should have the green wire from the alternator(which is the battery charge warning light on instrument panel).
So maybe G99a is one of the connectors on the instrument panel(rev counter in the case of the coil wires). _________________ Alfa33 QO 1984

Sorry for multiple posting but the green and black wire goes to ignition switch from what I can work out, with a feed going to ignition module.
One of the white wires goes to rev counter and the other to the Motronic box(pin 1).
Also it appears S1 relates to 8v engines. S11 16v.
One other thing is the exhaust catalysed with a lambda sensor or not? It's just that there's a different wiring diagram for catted models. _________________ Alfa33 QO 1984

Yes I guess it might not be as the white wires go to ' - 1' on the coil and the green/black goes to '+'
Hmm. that makes things less clear. _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV

Hi,
The two white wires are supposed to be connected to the terminal 1 (-) of the coil.
while the green-black should be connected to the terminal 15 (+)
There's no separate ignition module on the 16V version the coil is driven by the Motronic unit directly.
Only green-black wire is attached to the terminal "15" of the coil, no branching in your case. _________________ '92 Alfa Romeo 33 1.7IE

Oh right I see. Sorry the wiring diagram I was looking at covered the rev counter for both 8v and 16v with the odd amendment for 16v. I wasn't reading it right. _________________ Alfa33 QO 1984

Hi Lonewolf and Eagle, and everyone else, thanks for all your help.
I was running out of ideas so I got hold of a good wiring loom and connected it in place of the old one.
Engine fired up. Hurbloodyrah
Thanks for your time, I owe you a drink should we ever meet up.
I've learnt a bit about 16v electrics. (Still don't understand everything and would still like to know where the wires from G133b go, but the thing is working now) _________________ Owner's Club 33 Registrar. Now from P4 & S2 1.7 QV
