A faulty ignition switch has similar symptoms. I'm surprised you haven't at least tried another.

I was crossing fingers in my C15 every time I started it. Not that that helped. It was completely random. Although by the time I go round to changing it the thing had become progressively less and less reliable.

A simple wire to be used from the solenoid to the + terminal was in the glove box if required. Since changing the switch this has not been needed.

I have never changed one before. Are there security bolts that have to be drilled out? If I can get away with not having to change it.... Smile

No drilling.

I had to change mine after the car was broken into. You have to turn the key to a certain position which allows you to push the button in on the side to slide it out. No very difficult.

ahh ok, what about the key, can you change the barrel so you can still use the original key?

There might be a way but I wouldn't try taking them apart. I did once on an old one but ended up destroying it. Embarassed So now I have a separate key for the ignition.

You can get the ignition switch and two door barrels to keep one key for all,
One here in Paris http://www.leboncoin.fr/equipement_auto/824349130.htm?ca=5_s

You need to check whether yours is three- or four-wire. This one off a late 1.4i.e is four-wire http://www.leboncoin.fr/equipement_auto/734657085.htm?ca=5_s

Thanks I'll bear that in mind. I have one key for ignition doors and petrol cap, rather keep it that way Smile
I'm hoping I don't have to change it.
