Question as above, I know brass is softer, would there be more wear with cast iron?
Which is preferred, why is there an option?
Are brass easier to remove / refit?
Do cast iron fuse themselves to the head?
Thanks
Alan

In general cast iron is more suitable for everyday use, while In race applications (where longevity is considered as a secondary factor) bronze is preferred.
Bronze / brass guides may need a higher clearance compared to the factory recommendation in order to avoid stuck valves.

Cast Iron guides have self lubricating properties. Brass doesn’t.

Engineer also said that brass guides help with removing heat from the valves.

Brass or do you mean phosphor bronze? Phosphor bronze is superior to cast iron in many respects

I meant whatever comes as standard Smile
