| And I have just found out that you can park with a non-Alfa in amongst the Alfas if you are an Owner's Club member and can show a membership card. |

Just found this post on the alfa owner forum regarding entry to SAD:-
Dear All
I have been asked to clarify the admission details for Duxford, in my role as AROC Club Manager.
The situation is that non AROC members, providing they are driving an Alfa, will be allowed in the same gate to park up with the other Alfas, although they cannot take advantage of the reduced pre-booked ticket price. Non Alfa drivers will be redirected to the public car park.
Please note there is no separate model/section/AO parking - you will be guided by the marshalls on entry where to park i.e. in the order of arrival.
Looks like being a good day - have arranged for an 8C spider to drool over
See you there
Nick
Should clarify all confusion |

Well I'll be the first then.
Why do Skodas and alfa 33's both have heated rear winows... |

Look forward to that one...perhaps we could all do a little diary of the trip or jot down some notes along the way and you could use various bits.
Just a thought, see what the others think?
And I have to say the skoda article was amusing and did hint a teeny weeny bit at a man running short of ideas, just the tiniest bit though, barely noticable. |

To be honest, having written for the magazine every two months for many years, without running the risk of repeating myself, it is getting more and more difficult to find things to write about. The last article, comparing a 33 to our Skoda Felicia was amusing for me, though. Will be good to do a write up of Spaitalia |

Thankyou Paul, very kind of you to say .
Have to say I look forward to the magazine dropping through the door and always go straight to your piece.
Now then I need some bits for the 33 and was wondering what price you can do..... |

Ian is verily a man of extraordinarily good judgement
You could tell them that you have turned up to the event specifically to sign up??? Obviously I recommend signing up, but understand that it is expensive for some. |

Yep good idea. Let's meet outside the gates. I'm hoping to be there just before 9am. I haven't joined the club and I'm now not sure I will. I never visit that site - I'm either on this site or alfaowner.
If we go in convoy I might be able to sneak into the 33 section (after paying the £16.50). I hope so otherwise better to leave the 33 at home!! |
The Alfa Romeo Owners Club is more than just a website and when you look at 40 quid a year thats a mere 75p a week.
You also get the club mag every other month, which is always a good read (especially Mr Hide's article) amongst many other benefits.
Spring Alfa Day is organised and run by the Alfa Romeo Owners Club, obviously anyone is welcome (with or without Alfa), its only right that members of that club should get priority over non members.
Hopefully though everyone will get in and it will be great to meet you all. |

Well done for joining John and Nnamdi.
If there isn't any registered parking shall we meet outside the gates? At least then we can get some sort of 33 line. |

Not sure whether there will be actual register parking - depends upon the size of the parking site. I always argue for it, but it makes the organisers' job harder. Officially there isn't supposed to be at SAD every year, so as not to get everyone's hopes up, but 2 out of every 3 years they manage to do it. They said there wasn't going to be register parking at SAD last year and then did a really good job of doing so |

For the Alfa Romeo Owners Club (not to be confused with the website Alfa Owner which does have different levels of membership)
the Club membership fees are based on an annual subscription of £40.00 for single or family membership (husband and wife or partners only in joint names).
A joining fee of £7.50 is payable by new members.
Pensioners (Aged 65 & Over) and students (Aged 18 to 25 Inc.) pay £30.00 pa plus £7.50 joining
The £7.50 is a one off so when you renew its just £40. |
Thanks that's helpful. I did indeed confuse it with alfaowners club. Good man! Thanks for your help. |

Paul sent me a form to get entry for £9.50 in advance, but a membership card should give entry for £10.50.
Don't know about levels of membership, it cost £47 (ish?), including the initial £7 joining fee and 1 year membership.

Wow! Very expensive parking indeed!!! Still looks like I'm going to have to do it! |

Looks like their membership theory has worked then.
This only tends to happen at expensive museum venues rather than the 'big house' ones and it is a really good museum.

Do you want me to scan and email you the advance entry form? (Entry £9.50) It needs to get to them by 1st April (next Friday) |

Yes I will be there
Spring Alfa Day - Sunday 17th April 2011
Imperial War Museum Duxford,
Cambridgeshire, CB22 4QR
I think that the club is trying to push for a more exclusivity for members with an area purely for AROC members.
Info I have at the moment is:
More than 1,500 Alfa Romeo owners and enthusiasts are expected to ‘land’ at Duxford on Sunday 17th April.
We are delighted to announce our main sponsor, Marshall Alfa Romeo of Hitchin, will be attending with a large display of new and used models.
The AROC Club Shop will be presenting its 2011 collection of AROC merchandise and the event will be supported by a number of trade and private stands offering parts, accessories, miniatures, literature and models.
The dedicated AROC entrance will open at 09:30 and will close at 13:00. AROC members using this entrance and who do not attend the event in an Alfa Romeo, must produce a current AROC membership card. Spring Alfa Day will finish at 16:00 and the Museum closes at 18:00. |
