Maybe they just resprayed the boot and engine bay in gunmetal? |
No that can't work cos there Was no metallic brown 33s in the 1st place.
I'm told. |

Of course there is another way of looking at this...
It could of had a respray job done leaving those inside areas unpainted.
Let's face it, a series 1 that good has to of had some sort of restoration work at some point. |

Photograph yours on the same ground in the same light and it will probably look the same?
There were no metallic browns in the 1983-1990 period for the 33s. The metallics were SILVER AR748/765-1983/4 AR762-1985 AR767-1986/91, (possibly GREEN AR246/248-1985/6, but probably not), CHAMPAGNE/BEIGE AR852-1983 AR843/855-1984/6+
and GREY AR755-1984 AR768-1988 AR661-1989/91 All three stated as simply 'Grigio Metalliziatto'
Maybe the AR755 has a brown tint to it?
A metallic charcoal was used from 1982-1984, but I don't know whether it was used on any 33s. Maybe this is the colour??
Here is a photo of my 1st 33 which was definitely metallic grey:

| My first Alfa 33 was a series one in gun metal grey. The log book said as so. Sue's first Alfa 33 was a series 2 TI in gun metal grey and my 2nd Permanent 4 was in gun metal grey. The paint code for all three was the same. |
So what colour is mine then?
Cos it looks nothing like that |

It really does look grey in the boot picture, but I don't think anyone would be foolish enough to put 'metallic brown' in the wording if they could pass if off as a much more appealing 'gunmetal'
I remember looking for an s2 for my brother about 17 years ago and I think one we looked at was this colour, funny how he ended up with a black one

Did they ever do the s1 in metalic grey? I've come accross quite a few brown ones, i'm convinced this example is brown. I agree with Ian that i don't think they would put that colour interior in a grey car, although they have done some strange things in the past |

Wow, now down to £750 (not the S1) from £800. If I were still in Isfield I would grab it.
As to the scandinavian S1, if you look at the engine bay and boot where there is no reflection of the surroundings, you will see that it is gun-metal grey just like my first S1. I was always a bit confused when one of my mates called my car brown, so obviously some people do see it this way. Does anyone know what colours the orignal Series 1 cars came out in? |

Definitely brown, its got a beige/shite colour interior for a start, you wouldnt have that with a grey car.
Also being as how Im very old, I do remember that colour. |

ok guys what colour is this car? (i admit i am slightly colour blind), i am convinced it's a chocolate brown, the advert says metalic brown (strange) but a few people i've spoken to say it's grey, Paul was the last to be convinced of this. So which is it? grey or bloody brown |

I can't see anyone buying it. Ok it's pristine, but it's (dare I say it) not special enough.
Someone would pay that money for an excellent sud ti, because it was quite special when new and remains so special today.

| Shame about the colour. It might just be worth that in the UK if it was RHD. |
