Post subject: u4gm:Spellblade in Last Epoch
The Spellblade is a Mastery class for the Mage in Last Epoch, blending melee combat with elemental magic to create a dynamic and powerful close-range fighter. It specializes in wielding swords imbued with elemental forces like ice and fire, offering a unique playstyle that combines martial prowess with spellcasting

Playstyle and Core Skills
Spellblades excel at melee combat enhanced by elemental damage, often dual-wielding swords to maximize their offensive potential. Their signature skill, Shatter Strike, is a cold-based melee attack that strikes enemies in a circular area around the player, instantly killing frozen foes below a certain health threshold. This makes it excellent for both clearing packs and boss damage.
Another key skill is Flame Reave, which sends a wave of fire in a cone, dealing fire and lightning damage. While not exclusive to Spellblade, it complements their elemental melee theme. Enchant Weapon is crucial for boosting damage output by imbuing weapons with magical energy, fitting well into the Spellblade’s builder-spender playstyle—stacking buffs and then unleashing powerful attacks.
Build Highlights
A popular Spellblade build focuses on the Shatter Strike skill combined with Firebrand to generate and consume mana stacks for burst damage. This build uses offensive buffs, cold damage scaling, and mana regeneration skills like Mana Strike to maintain high uptime on Shatter Strike. Defensive tools such as Flame Ward and Flame Rush provide survivability by granting wards and damage mitigation.
The Spellblade passive tree enhances elemental damage, mana efficiency, and survivability. Key passive nodes include Arcane Warden, Elemental Affinity, and Arcane Shielding, which boost damage and defenses. The build also benefits from dual-wielding bonuses unlocked by the Gemini node, increasing attack speed and damage output.
Leveling and Gear
Spellblade is considered one of the fastest and most satisfying leveling options for Mage players, thanks to its strong area damage and mobility. Early game progression involves transitioning from Fireball to Glacier, then to the core Shatter Strike build once Gemini is unlocked. Teleport and Surge skills enhance battlefield mobility and ward generation, helping Spellblades survive tougher encounters

Recommended gear focuses on melee attack speed, cold and fire damage, and mana regeneration. Unique items like Diothaen's Bloody Nib can significantly boost DPS, while defensive gear helps offset the build’s moderate survivability.
