Not sure if your wiring loom is the same as on my base model but if it is have you checked the multipin plugs that connect the engine bay loom to the car.
They are located in the battery bulkhead ... |

This is one of the reason I am ditching the power steering on my 33, one less thing to worry about with MOTs etc and if the gaitors need replacing on a standard rack it's a lot easier, one less fluid ... |

Removing the rack is not a problem, I have removed everything else so access is not an issue.
I just don't want power steering on it, I find it light enough even with the ... |
