Thanks Guys,looks like it was just lack of use that's jammed it...
Took it off this morning,blew away some dust,rubbed on some graphite and it's all working again!

Unfortunately my P4 has been sitting gathering dust since the end of last year and when coming to start it this month it would appear the starter motor has jammed.

Well, it seems that I've experienced both scenarios mentioned!
When I reconnect a battery on my P4 the doors make the "clunking" noise as if the central locking is activating, yet they stay unlocked ... |

Has anybody managed to change a Series3 power steering rack without removing the gearbox? Would it be possible to just lower the engine and 'box slightly, as a unit, to give clearance? |

The Walker manifold I fitted to my P4 was the same part no. as the 16V and went on to the Alfa centre pipe without any trouble - I'd say it's worth a shot!
