Knighty. You're probably not getting the extra airflow that you should normally get at higher speeds needed to cool the extra engine temps. The coolant temp shouldn't increase that much.

Bob, you're right - they are normally high quality machined pulleys, usually for people building high spec race engines. I just want a bit more power while staying with standard road cams.

I'll probably be skimming the block to raise the compression on the new 8valve 1.7 engine I'm building. So to keep the cam timing spot on, I'm looking for a pair of vernier pulleys.

Personally I'd stick with the upper end of that setting unless there is an update in the supplement section at the back of the manual.
