What kind of signal recives to measure speeds?

Mechanic has said that a new thermostat makes the car to rise its temp fastly so if the car runs hotter is normal and the water to be warm but not hot is normal too.

i'd suggest checking (and replacement if necessary) of the distributor cap.
Is it necessary to do any adjustments when changing distributor cap or just plug and play?

I've bought a brass plug. I think it's a little bit big for the hole (36,75 mm). Tomorrow I'll try to find an exact one (36 mm) and to take as care as possible to take it out.
