I'll see if we may have a club member who has one and is willing to part with it. There are quite a few with both 33's and 75's so I may be lucky!

Took the valve out and connected the outlet from the canister with the corresponding inlet to the manifold and the noise is gone. Thus, obviously it is the valve that's the culprit. The question then ...

Thanks for the suggestion!

I found the valve (mine is partly orange and mostly black) and took it out. It apparently closes the connection between the cannister and inlet manifold when there is low ...

Hi all!

My '90 1.7 ie has started making a whistling noise. It's the vacuum tubing from the inlet manifold which ends in the fuel fumes carbon canister. At idle it's vibrating and I wonder if there ...

Since the last post I once again MOT'd it and the emission values were just a out-of-line as before. CO 0,7 (0,5), CO @ 2500 rpm 0,6 (0,3) and HC 218 (100) with limits in brackets. Lambda was the only ...

Update:

Finally gave up and handed it over to the local Alfa-guru. He removed and reinstalled the manifold and it is now guaranteed not leaking. He didn't think it was before either. Also set the t ...

I think that's the next logical step!

I know the timing needs to be adjusted and the intake gaskets would be the only items not changed. Also need to make sure the bolts are tightened to the correc ...

The work to find a solution has continued but the problem remains! I agree that everything points to a "signal" missing for the CU in order to find the correct idle speed.

Consequently I ...

Friends,

Had to disassemble the intake earlier today in order to free up the distributor. Prior to the "operation" I had a somewhat uneven idle and disastrous emission numbers. Thought I' ...

Now it's time to turn the attention to the timing belts and replace them. Seems to be straightforward enough. Especially with the hydraulic lifters where the cam marks are on the pulley rather than th ...

Yes, you were right while I was barking up the wrong tree!

I also assume the brakes just need getting everything moving freely and greasing them!
