How much more power are you after? How big a wallet do you have?
If you want significantly more power than what you currently have, go and buy a rex, 200sx or Integra type R. Ok they wont have any character, but at least you get the grunt you are after.
Or if you want to mod the Alfa. Start with a new exhaust system. 2" stainless steel mandrel bent, hi flow cat and straight thru rear box. Get the chip for the ECU from the Squadra web site.
A K & N would be the go, but use a panel filter and not the pod filter. Although more for the reusability of it than any performance gains.
These increases will be small fry compared to the jap cars. _________________ Scott Sander

Mandrel bending is the proces they use to bend the steel used for the exuahst pipes. the benefits of this are that it keeps the thickness of the steel the same throughout the bends. allowing high and smooth flow of exhaust gasses.
hope this helps _________________ Charlie

It allows for less restriction at the bends as the diameter of the pipe work does not change as much as a standard system. So the flow should be better resulting in better performance.
The downside is, it's a more labour intensive process to create a mandrel bent system compared to a standard system. So the cost of the system is higher.
But compared to what was on the car the mandrel bent system released 6Kw. _________________ Scott Sander

ARGGGHHHHHH WRX? 200SX? PLEASE... even though they're quicker than the 33 ill never step in one of those! Anyway , scott why shouldnt i get a pod filter instead of a panel filter? Wouldnt a pod filter be better and have more power? In terms of an exhaust..what could i get for say $500 they will give at least 5kw of power? thanks |

Trouble with the cone filters is you land up drawing in dirty warm air from the engine bay which is likely to loose you power. You might reduce that effect by piping cold air to the filter but the only real solution would be to pretty much enclose the filter to protect it from the hot air
All the best

Next step is to mount some kind of an heatshield. _________________ Stian Henriksen, Norway

Pod filters are not street legal in NSW and most likely other states. Power not really. Fast 4's mag did a test and the difference was negligable.
Not sure what $500 would get you but speak to Tuffy Mufflers in Alexandria, They did my system. _________________ Scott Sander
