I have a kit car fitted with a 1.5 twin-carb flat-4 alfa-sud sprint 95bhp engine from a 1985 sud.......as you probably know the carbs are a pair of dual down-draught 36 IDF.......I seem to be having a problem when the engine is warm it develops a mis-fire under acceleration, once above about 2000 rpm the problem seems to fade out, it Idles OK........but cyl number 3 seems to be well down of exhaust temperature, the others measure about 120-150 DegC.......whereas number 3 is only about 60 Degrees.......which leads me to suspect that the miss-fire is possibly on 3........I have just fitted a new set of Champion leads, all well connected and clipped down, the rotor arm and dizzy cap are all in good condition, as is the coil.......
I'm going to pull out the jets tonight to check for blockages and that all jet sizes are the same..........what else would you guys recommend to look for?......is it worth splashing out on a re-build kit for the 36IDF's???
any pointers would be much appreciated |
