HI IHAVE A ALFA 33 1.4IE CAT WITH MAGNETI MARELI ECU.
I HAVE THE FEELING THAT THE L SENSOR IS NOT WORKING.
WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD I CANT EASY GET MORE THAN 4000RPM.
IS THERE A EASY WAY TO SEE IF IT WORKS WITHOUT CHECKE THE EMISSIONS?
HAS ANYONE CHANGE IT? MY ALFA HAS MORE THAN 175000KM.
ANY ADVISE WILL BE HELPFULL!!
THANKS!!!

Hi,

If you have a multi meter the oxygen sensor should oscillate between 0 and 1V (as a rough guide).

Also if your engine is cold, I would not recommend going above 3000rpm anyway. Let your engine warm up then have fun.

I thought that when cold the engine ran on the 'standard' mapping fixed in the ECU as the engine temp increases it runs the engine by balancing it from the input received from the different sensors.

If this is the case it would tend to indicate that he ECU itself is f-ed.

Does your model of ECU have a 'limp home mode' ie if problems occur then the engine ECU has a setting to get he car to the nearest garage/home but will run very badly ie. below 4000rpm (I have activated this in a Vectra by steam-cleaning the engine bay, an expensive mistake)

Measure between the black and white wire. This is the signal from the probe. The 12V is the heater wire.

Also press your caps lock key. It seems to be stuck. Wink
