I am rebuilding my first 16v engine and intend to get the head skimmed a fraction to clean up the mating face.
I am looking at skimming the block to raise the compression a bit - how much can I take off without getting into problems with valve/piston contact or slack cambelts?
Thanks,
Mark

Normaly I think its 4% or in second 6% . I am not sure about this data. Please verify it.. Basicly you can go to the point it tuches valves. You must know that gasket is another 0,5mm to 1mm thick so it leavs you yome space

Thanks for the reply Laki.
I am unsure what you mean by 4 and 6%. Could you explain a bit more please?
Thanks,
Mark

Please check that the pistons are flushed on both sides. My experience is the pistons on the driver side protrudes more. About 0.1mm.
