Hi i have a 33 92 1,7 ie alfa, adn i just bought it a couple of months ago. Even though the car is more than perfect i'm starting to notice some small problems, which aren't serious but annoy me. Firstly the button on the meter re-starter on the small meter doesn't work. Basically i can't make my my meter go to 0. It just keeps on going, and even though i could track how much i've traveled for a day by subtracting the digit shown by the digit i started with, i don't feel like doing this "long" process. The other problem on my dashboard is that the rpm meter's lights aren't working. thus when it's dark i can't see the meter lightened up in green. And the final problem is that my gas meter is really sensitive, meaning that the light keeps on blinking every once in a while even if i've filled it up to the middle. This is a problem because i truly don't know how much more do i usually ahve till i actually run out of gas. The manual says that the light will blink when i have 6-7liters left in the tank. So how can it keep on blinking if i put 20 liters in?? I know that the tank is 50l, but still everytime my car is uphill the tank shows that it's full and when it's downhill it shows that it's empty. So can any of these dashboard problems be fixed and HOW?? The final problem is that my left long lights don't work and i canät figure out why. It isn't the fuse or the bulb. It also isn't the connection, so what teh hell can it be. Well anyway if anybody has enough patience and strength to read this message please answer back fast.

concerning the fuel , this is a classic problem..
on down hill it looks empty, on uphill it always looks full...
(every time you break it will give alarm)

The fuel meter system is obviously similar to the systems used in the 60's and the 70's (my second car, Opel Kadett '70 does the same thing). The sensor measures the height of the fuel level in the tank, and when the car accelerates, decelerates or is making a curve, the fuel moves in the tank (Compare to a glass of water in a moving car). That's why the fuel gauge indicates the fuel level correctly only when the car is placed stationary or is moving with a constant speed and is horizontal. Concerning your rev meter lights, just remove the cover on the gauges(there is a total of four screws holding it in place, all located near the steering column) and replace the bulbs that are broken. At the same time, wash the inside of the plastic "window" covering the gauges with some window cleaner and a rag, and you'll see things at lot clearer. The speedometer and the km (mile ) -meter are common weak points of this car. Your problem is probably just mechanical and is fixable once you have your gauges "on the table", but while your at it, it's wise to have look at the speedometer's electric motor. The brushes usually run out after 200000km, so opening the motor and cleaning the brushes and the commutator with a spray of electric cleaner is advisable. As far as your long lights go, I dont have a clue... Have you actually replaced the bulb with a new one? How can you be sure it's not the connection?

Thanks alot, i still havent checked those things out but ill sure do. The connection could be messed up in the long lights but i just dont know from where. The bulb is brand new and works on teh right long light. So the problem must be somewhere in teh connection but i just dont kno where.
