Is it because I lied when I was 17?
nope, its because of the massive amounts of condensation im my sprint due to the leaky boot. I cant figure out how its getting in though  even done the hide inside the boot with a hose playing over it thing to no avail

Other places to check would be the wheel arches (fuel vent system comes through a rubber grommet that may have shifted or split), spare wheel well and tail lights. There may also be a high air pressure zone at the back of the hatch where it closes to the body that only occurs when you are driving and doesn't leak with the hose test. There is effectively a small spoiler there.

i had a leaky boot on my s2 33 and finally found out it was the gas strut squashing the rubber seal which was causing leakage.
good luck, i know how it feels, took me 1/2 a year to discover it.
