Hello One and All
I have been playing with the car, out in the garage in the cold, Brrrr.
However the thought of all this cold made me think about engine cooling and the hoses on Baby.
What are the advantages of Silicone hoses, do they seal better than 'normal hoses' where they clamp?
Has anyone used them? Where did you get them?
Was there a kit for them or was it a case of ordering a 90 degree bend here and a straight bit there to make up your own kit of parts?
Thanks

AFAIK (which is not a lot) silicone hoses are just meant to be stronger, longer lasting, less prone to leakage, and able to hold more pressure before failing.... as well as double or treble the price of rubber....
the pressure issue is why they are such a big deal for turbocharged motors...(like my Q4 )
I suppose they are also more aesthetically pleasing too,
unless your were to "uprate" your whole cooling system i would say the cost is barely justifiable...
(someone will be along shortly to say just the opposite... )

There used to be a website about tuning the Alfa GTV6 Jetronic system from the USA. Unfortunatley the site is no more - but the bloke used to sell full sets of sillicone hoses for the GTV6 which he claimed would "never need replacing".
Also - they are availble colour-coded which is quite cool!

Thanks for the replies. I have had a case of 'Sod it' and replaced the hoses with 'common' ones. Car back together again, but am now playing with the bonnet and lights, so not yet checked how she runs. Roll on top down weather.
