Hi, thinking of building a 1600 cc (1590) engine....

Ive got two doner engines, 1.7 and 1.5 both Carbie and in good order. Can i get some advice from anyone who has done this before.....

How's this :;;; Arrow 1.5 Block/Crank rebored : 1.7 Pistons : 1.7 Head : 1.5 Cam and cam housing. With 40,s or 36er's from Webber.

This should make a compedative engine for the >1600cc club racing. guess after measuring the compression, skimming could raise the odds.

This is a project to drop into my 82 Sud - that steers straight. Im planning to get invoved soon in club racing, sure there is room left for a little more competition.

Thinking the 1.5 cams would be a little racier and reliable. From people who have done this hybridising, is there a better cam solution? Possibly 1200cc cams???

the components that you list are the best standard parts combination for a 1600cc engine.
why bother re boring a 1500 block if the 1700 one is ok?,just swap cranks.
you will also need to deck the block to get the pistons back to the top with the shorter stroke crank as the 1500 pistons have a higher compression height than the 1700 ones.
what mods are you allowed to do in your racing class? because just doing what you have listed aint going to make the sud a rocket ship!
