Hi,
I'm fitting the above engine into a VW Karmann Ghia but need info on wiring for the ignition...
There are 3 wires coming from the electronic ignition module, can you tell me which one is which? Once black (assuming earth), one white and one green.
I have done this before but can remember which way round they go!

Thanks in advance
Rich
PS if you wnat to see pics of the install, go to my website: www.ricola.co.uk

Hi

Looking at the workshop manual it looks like the black wire goes to earth while the green wire goes to the fusebox to get power while the white wire goes to the rev counter. Although I am not certain I suspect the black earth wire is wired through the electronic ignition module to actually generate the spark

All the best

Keith

I was talking to someone on the Minari stand at the weekend briefly. He said that there were two types of coil with this engine. Can anyone tell me the different types and which one I would need? Is it to do with the different ignition systems?

Cheers
Rich

Basically Bosch and Marrelli. The coils are not interchangeable. Most cars seem to have Bosch ignition systems

Another one: the vacuum hose for the distributer advance is missing. Where does this normally hook up to?

thanks again,

the vac line hooks up to the upper brass tittie on the left hand carb cyl 4
make sure you have the little round pulse valve instaled in the line with the arrow on that heading toward the carb
is it a bosch or marelli dist? the marelli advance units often crap out , check the rod into the dist moves when you open the trottle

The pipe was missing, is the anti-pulse valve really necessary?
It's a bosch distributor....
