Although I have posted several times in recent months, I have never got round to introducing myself so here goes.

I have in the past had a passion for Italian and British motorcycles having owned many BSA's, Triumphs (proper Meriden ones) and last but not least Moto Guzzis. However four heart attacks later and now suffering from temporal arthritis (making wearing a helmet painful) I have replaced my M/C fleet with Land Rovers. At present I have 5 in various locations ie 2 Rangies, a Disco and 2 Series 2As. As one Rangie returns to the road after extensive work the other is coming off for conversion from a V8 to 300Tdi and while the engine is out, replacement inner wings. The 2As both need major surgery and the Disco is providing an endless supply of bits and pieces for the rest of the fleet.

As I miss my love hate relationship with Italian Engineering, I saw an Alfa 33 Series advertised back in March and decided to part with some dosh (not a lot) and it is standing waiting for me to start work on it. It is pretty much up together with minimal welding being needed to the floor for its MOT. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Paul Hide who was able to supply me with a new tailgate and various other bits and pieces to help me along and having seen his 33 fleet, I am energised towards getting my 33 back where it belongs.

While I am doing so, I have now done a deal with Widebody and am meeting him later in the day so that we can swap his 4 x 4 Giardinetta for a handful of notes, so you see I really did catch the bug from Paul.

In case you are wondering, I am retired (at the grand old age of 51) so have plenty of time on my hands to fettle etc providing my health and wealth remain in good shape which is something that has been lacking in recent times. However my philosophy is that tomorrow is another day !!!

I have no doubt I shall prove a pain in the proverbial on this forum asking questions etc, but I have found the welcome very warm and hope I can make a positive contribution.

Chris

Hi,

What Guzzis did you have?

I have access to my fathers 78 Morini 350 strada which he has owned from new. It's a fantastic handling, sounding, and looking bike. Having said that I just worked out i've ridden it once since becomming a father in 2004!

My brothers best mate had a 78 Guzzi Le Mans, which was beautiful.

Cheers,

John

Thank you for the welcome and in answer to your question John I have had two Guzzis a T3 and a T5 and enjoyed them both over a five year period.

I have always liked the idea of a early Le Mans, but fear that with prices on the up the way they are that I am too late That is allowing for the fact that not being able to wear a helmet comfortably, I would be able to ride it much anyway, and bikes are for riding not for trailering to shows so I guess I will have to stick to Alfas. Very Happy
