Hi guys, after a long period of personal turmoil (Wife of 40yrs died of cancer) and consequent lack of interest in most things coupled with the inability to login because of lost p/w and a change in Email preventing a new one, I'M BACK.
Oh the ignominy of being an Arna again. Very character building.
Still got four 33s, still got the Zender bodykit, still unfitted (this Summer).
Reluctantly had to pass up a local P4 at a bargain price a while ago (only 5-6 in this country and 2 of them damaged). Serious threats from my resident daughter and remarks by friends about Alfa mushrooms everywhere finally made me see sense. Very reluctantly as I've always thought the P4 was the ideal 33 to handle a supercharger competently.
Like a lot of you I'm planning a disc and caliper upgrade so the info on the forum is most appreciated. I'm also going to fit the S1 drums.
Anyway it's good to see the forum still flourishing.
Regards Eddie

Thanks for that Tino. It feels like coming home and has fired up my enthusiasm afresh. Developing cataracts are limiting my driving gusto at night but during the day I can still get my pulse rate up. Mind you I'm not as brave as I was , so maybe thats just easier to do.
What I so love about the 33 is its' responsiveness so a refettle programme is planned to tweak it in the power and handling. And stopping. I still want to supercharge one of them.
Been helping a friend with his F3000 single seaterand his rally car, also another friend with his F5000 historic racer and been making dry sumps and bits for my old Escort.
Nearly came to Blighty with the F5000 but a blown engine in Australia put paid to the trip.Pity.
Regards Eddie

Welcome back! I did wonder where you'd got to!
Which car is the Zender kit going on?
Did you manage to figure anything out with solid lifters and that head off my old engine?
I'm contemplating getting the heads rebuilt on my current motor because regaining lost horsepower always sounds attractive at a track day, and the clattering as I drive down the road is getting embarrassing!

Eddie will do the forum a world of good... he knows what he's talking about, unlike the rest of you all! Laughing (only joking)

KEITH... there must be something you can do for Eddie to allow him to use his old account again?!?!?!

Hi Bob, nice to be back and thanks for the vote of confidence. Touching if somewhat misplaced as I find I have more to learn from the forum than to contribute. But that's what it's all about isn't it? Such a brilliant support mechanism to keep these little jewels of a car operating with the verve that they came with.

Hi BEN, the Zender kit will go on my White one which I want to refettle over the next few months. I've got to strip some of the spares cars to clear the decks a bit first.
I've still got your head somewhere. I was hoping to buy it and its partner off you so that I do a bit of work on modifying them for when I'm ready but it sounds like you could do with them yourself to do the same.
As you know when I first looked at the idea of going mechanical on the 1.7 heads I could find no inherent problem contrary to what I'd beeen told in various quarters. They would of course require the belts and covers from the 1.5 motor as well as the camboxes. For the out and out racing fraternity it's different as they use the 105 lifters which require a longer valve.
Pm me about what you want to do about your heads or ring me on 2798748.
Regards Eddie
