ML4.1 Injection System (33 16v)

Is this the same basic ECU sytem used on the 75/GTV 6??

If not does anyone know of a larger diameter AFM that can be fitted from another car (even if it's just transferring the innards from the 33's AFM to a larger diameter casing.)

Hi

No the GTV6 and almost all of the 75 V6 models used L jetronic

How about having a look at one of the systems for connecting a jetronic system (and probably motronic systems with an afm) up to a MAF sensor

This is not for my Alfa so tell me more otherwise it would be a case of are these available from a breakers?? as I have to pass the other half's five financial tests for economic convergence Wink (and the woman has no automotive heart, she made me, a 13 year Alfa driver, rebuild an escort 1.8 D engine for gods sake!! mind I advanced the valve timing to give it a bit less MPG and a bit more ooomph Confused , ahem Crying or Very sad maybe 65bhp rather than 60). At the moment we only need the one car as we have both been working in Redcar BUT if I get this contract in Newcastle things will change Twisted Evil Rolling Eyes mmmmmm

Hi,

I did see somewhere on the net a reference to a 75 (possibly a 2L) using the Motronic ML4.1 ECU, although it was a different part number to the ones the 16V used. It could just be different firmware.

The peripherals hanging off the ECU I have no idea, i.e. AFM, Injectors, etc

The 75 twinspark and the first Alfa 164 2.0TS used the ML4.1, but i doubt the ECU's are the same since there are two outputs for both ignition coils on twinspark models.
i do happen to have a couple spare ECUs at home from 75's and i can tell you the bosch part number tonight if you wish.
however, do not hope to succeed at swapping ECUs between different makes/model of cars since the Bosch ECUs have the SAME PART NUMBER on a lot of cars but contain different ROM chips depending on the model.
i tried once to swap ECU's between some Volvo models with terrific results. I ended swapping the ECU but keeping the ROM, which involved a little work since the ROM is soldered on the board on the oldest bosch ECUs. I upgraded the board with a soldered socket to be able to swap ROMs without a soldering iron.

besides, i heard the ML4.1 has also been used on the Porsche 944 but i did never investigate it myself.

Concerning AFMs, i don't know why you want to enlarge their bodies, but if you want to do so, that's no big deal, you can get an AFM from a 75, a Volvo, or a BMW at a scrapyard. But please note that getting a bigger one will allow you to let more air in, so the measurement should be done accordingly ; thus do not keep the electronics from your current AFM : if you get a bigger body but keep the electronics, for the same opening angle of the AFM, the flow will be bigger but the measurement will be the same ; hence the ECU won't guess what is happening and you'll be running lean (like you had an leak in an inlet duct). you may try to adjust the discrepancy with the mixture screw, but you may run out of adjustment before achieving a proper tuning.

My 75 has Motronic.

Several people have fitted a BMW AFM to get better performance.

Don't know if it works. There is info on the web on what to do.

Hi

I have some details around at home on the Motronic fitted to the 75 TS and the late 75 V6 which I can dig out. However not sure if the pinouts on all the Motronic AFMs are the same. It is unlikely that you will manage to adjust the mixture enough with the mixture screw.

At the end of the day any AFM is restrictive (and is likely to be fully open long before you reach the red line)

hi

i checked yesterday evening, the bosch part number for the 75 motronic ECU is 0 261 200 108.
there is also as white sticker on the ECU on which you can read "078" and the software revision for the ECU (something like 002 or 003, ... the highest one i got is 005)

does it match the part number for the 33 ecu?
besides, i'm interested in any data anyone might have on the motronic ECUs, i've already got a pinout, and some system drawings.

This is the page that I saw about the ML4.1 in a Alfa 75.

The part number is different to that of a 33 16V. The wiring harness is also different to a 16V

I just checked out my ECU and it,s on a 1990 33 16V with (CAT) and the P/N is 0261 200 147 and the white sticker has got 810 and under that there are three bar codes that have *061.16*
*265A0000*
*1519000012*
Stuffed if I know what they mean but I found a drawing on the net that was called" the site that BOSCH hates" or something and it has the internal wiring of the ECU it,s probable the one you have already got.The # on the drawing for the ECU is BOSH 0 261 200 100
GM 90 233 741
And it,s got WWW.DIAKOM.COM.RU on it too with OPEL-OMEGA at the bottom .

I feel your pain man! Its like me not drivinfg my series 3 16v and stuck with a bloody 1.3L echo! Smile
