how do I remove the rev limit form my twin carb 1.5 sud engine?......someone has told me they think its in the distributor rotor arm, aparrently there is a spring/weight that opens up with the centrifugal force?........I havent actually looked yet.......how high should I safely rev the engine to once its removed?.......I'm thinking about 7,500 to 8,000.......its a bog standard motor with a foam ITG panel filter. |

yup that is how its governed, you can get a different rotor arm with a limit of 7200. Check the torque / power curve as i think the max is achieved at a level below that limit. Someone else should be able to say where that is. _________________ x2 33 16v

Hi
The rotor arm has the rev limiter. It is a pretty common rotor arm used on different cars, often with different rev limits (eg, Escort XR3i one fits, think the limit with that is 6300rpm).
To remove it just buy a rotor arm without the limiter in it. Cheaper. Just make sure you never need the rev limiter (know someone who blew an engine racing as the drive shaft popped out on full thorttle, revs went through the roof and blew the engine before they managed to back off).
All the best

After missing a gear once, over revving and bending a couple of valves, I put a rev limiter on, better safe that sorry. _________________ x2 33 16v
