I can't remember for the life of me, how much oil the 1.5 gearbox takes. the car is so low i can't do it on the level and just wait for it to be full to the filler. I think it's 2.7L but i'm not sure........anyone?

Hi,

Yeah about right, 2.6L. Just fill it till it starts to overflow from the filler hole when the car is on level ground.

At least you should be able to get a shifter onto your plug, the 16V needs a 12mm Allen key and my Allen key is way to long to fit.

Hope you have a plunger or something similar to refill it with, it is a pain otherwise.

2.6 ok...cool. the car is lowered, and even if it wasn't, it's a pain as you say. I have a pump and usually just jack it up onto axel stands and dose it with the specified amount. just couldn't remember how much to put in.
I going to try some castrol multitrax. we'll see how it is. comes well recomended,
thanks

Here is a pretty funky little trick.

1. remove the filler plug

2. run a hose from the filler hole up into the engine bay

3. put a small funnel into the hose

4. pour away until filler hole overflows

5. to easy Cool
