Hi people, I'm Silvio from Malta. Been driving Alfas for the last 11 years now and can assure you that once the passion is discovered, it will never leave and that there will always be an Alfa in my life.

Previously owned cars:
Fiat 131 racing - great

Fiat Strada 130tc - Bomabstic

Alfasud Ti - the greatest love of my life

Alfasud - served well until it lasted
Alfa 33 1.5 i.e(Now converted to 1.7 16v) - my present lover

and this is afamily project used for local hillclimb events

Hi,

Was in Malta 10 years ago on holiday, and at the time saw quite a few suds, sprints, and 33s- many looked good except for faded paint. I am probably wrong, but am I correct that back then there was no MOT or it was very basic?

Do they even eventually rot away in Malta or has the MOT thing killed them off.

Cheers,

John

You're quite right about the old suds, sprints and 33's. I myself had two suds. there still quite a lot though the lack of parts more than the mot is killing the old alfas here on the island and the few remaining good conditioned examples are either still on the road, as long as nothing major happens to the body work, or locked away as collector's items. however from the few scrap yards we have here we still manage to find bits and pieces and be able to fix up something. At least thanks to modern technology we manage to find parts around the world keeping us happy with our cars.
