Me name is Bob and I come from Bristol originally, although I've lived in Bromsgrove (OK), Southampton (Awful), Burton Upon Trent (Nice) and now a place called Swadlincote (Nicer) in Derbyshire. I live with my wife Rachel and our little son (18 months) Ben.

I program computers for a living.

I started my life in cars with my beloved Citroen 2cv (underrated). I bought a pink Alfa 33 IE in 2002 which I hated for 2 months and then fell for. Since then I've owned a White Alfa 33IE, a 146Ti (better than you might think) and a GTV 2litre (slower than you might think, but more stylish) which I still have.

My latest bit o' fun is an Alfa 33 P4 which I bought with a broken engine. It has a good body (unlike me) and I am in the process of restoring it (pretty much fully).

Other things I like doing are Brewing Lager, playing Darts for a local pub team, saying I know lots about Alfas when really I don't and playing the piano.

So, if you like the sound of me... don't hesitate to leave a message on my voicemail using the code supplied. I am free -11 days per week as I play darts on a Monday, do alfa stuff on a Wednesday and spend the other 9 days looking after Ben and drinking beer (after he's gone to bed).

I've never heard the love/hate relationship with your red 33. Why did you hate it for two months then?

Is it coincidence that three computer guys (Keith, Bob and me) are here on the forum sharing common passion on the 33? Laughing

Not only have we been struck by computer virus but also from the Alfa virus Rolling Eyes

Regards

Hi

After programming computers, 33s are VERY logical.

So Bobber, who do you work for round Swadlincote?

All the best

Keith

Than,

I'm not sure there's a connection.... there are lots of IT people in the world now, they are more likely to use the internet, they are more likely to find this site, they are more likely to post. Add those factors together and I think you'll find this is why a lot of people on here are in IT.

Keith,

I'd tell ya... but I'd have to kill ya. Laughing

Just wondering if it was RR in that area.

Although Toyota would be ironic.

All the best

My father used to work for RR in Leavesden near Watford, after starting with De Havillands.

As an engineer who designed blades for gas turbines, he did some programming in Fortran -hardcore or what!

What do you guys program in? I got qualified in Java a few years back (hard work-for me anyway!), but have never really used it.

Cheers,

John

Loads of old stuff that probably means nothing now... but currently :

Visual Basic.NET
C#
SQL Server
Business Objects

I think that's about it these days.

Hello!

Just thought I'd revive my "Introduce Yourself" post so I can say I'm back and so you can all reply on how much you've missed me and the like! Laughing

Been wasting away the nice summer months when I could have been restoring the P4, waiting for the perfect day when the weather has turned (i.e. Blizzard time) to return to the project.

So... a little message to say, I'm back online and lock up yer daughters.

Bob
