If you are sure all the bolts are removed, replace them, and tighten them by hand until they just make contact with the heads.
Replace the cam belts and adjust the valve timing correctly.
Make sure the plugs are in tight, with leads disconnected, and turn the engine over with the starter motor.
With luck the compression force will separate the heads.
DON'T DO THIS WITH THE BOLTS REMOVED, TIMING BELTS REMOVED, OR THE IGNITION LEADS CONNECTED _________________ Dick Flower, Nr. Carcassonne. hi, i suppose the exhaust manifold is off, the cambelt is off, the camcovers are off (both the outer plastic cover and inner metal cover), and the six 17mm head bolts are off.
The head is held in place by two dowel pins which require the head to be drawn along the axis of the engine. Trying to twist it sideways will postitively not work.
Some fiddling is often required and use of bruteforce might prove useful. However i've yet to meet a boxer head that won't get loose within ten minutes of reasonable fiddling (never use a hammer or prybar, only your own two hands!)
regards,

Well after my slow start, on thursday night I fitted the heads carbs linkage belts, ignition, add fuel and charged the battery.
She started first time with a small squirt of easy start.

First time I've stripped and rebuild a top end (or pair of them)
Carb were serviced too. so settings where done from memory.
Been so long since I've heard that noise. _________________ Shift for Brains |
