Hi,

I've just had my eighth anniversary of owning my 33. I celebrated with almost finishing my list of spring jobs and stripping down the back brakes and changing the shoes.

In eight years and about 14,000miles it's had the following kinda front to back:

Pair headlights
Rad
Cambelts and tensioners TWICE
Pas and alt belt
Camshaft, exhaust valve, buckets and seals on one side
air filter K+N
front pads TWICE
front shocks
trailing arm and bushes
oil filter ABOUT 6
fuel filter TWICE
clutch slave TWICE
steering rack
clutch
gearbox
steering wheel- Nardi
front door
window reg
cat
rear shoes
both wheel cylinders
exhaust backbox TWICE
spoiler TWICE

Oh and 2 batterys and 5 tyres.

Bit boring and obsessive really, I know Rolling Eyes

John

Fourteen thousand in eight years, car total now about 67k.

I daren't think about the cost per mile including fuel, insurance and road tax.

It's worth it for the fun factor. Will i have it for ten years? most probably, unless the money materialises for a v6 GT.

Well 4 really

The first pair i fitted had been on since late 2001 and so i thought it prudent to do 'em again recently.

You really need to do more miles. The car might not break as much. =|
And how did you go through two spoilers? I wasn't aware they were a consumable item.

I know, it needs more excercise!

A big chunk of that stuff was done in year one, as the car had suffered a bit of neglect with the previous owner, the rest has been my quest to keep it on 'top' form.

The car didn't come with a spoiler, the late 16vs didn't get one in the uk, so my first one was a 2nd hand one repainted and fitted in 2001. After 5 or 6 years the paint had cracked off the edges, so i repainted it in a rush and it was a mess. A brand new spoiler in primer was grabbed off ebay for 12quid last summer, painted properly and put on.

Happy Anniversary John!

Had my 6 year this month too. 32K and a similar list to yours of replacement parts give or take a few bearing shells! Still on the same front pads though........maybe time they were done.

Thanks Lee.

I did the first set of pads when i got the car and the 2nd set the other week when i did the hub helicoil. Pads on ns were less than half worn, but on the os they were almost completely shagged Confused Strange the brakes have never pulled to one side or been picked up on MOT, and the pistons pushed back without too much effort.

Excellent keep her forever!

My 33 took me and my best man to my wedding in 2002. I still have the white ribbon stashed under the passenger seat- sentimental or just mental that i am.

Make sure you get some pics of the 33 on the day, no-one took any of my 33 Crying or Very sad

Are you taking the 33 to SAD next weekend?

Cheers,

John
